Job Summary
To support accurate coding of outpatient medical encounters, the full-time Certified Coder will analyze clinical and demographic information to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze medical records to assign diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient encounters
- Identify documentation gaps and initiate queries for clarification to ensure accurate coding
- Maintain productivity and accuracy standards while managing assigned work queues
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CCA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-A, CIC, COC)
- Experience applying ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines
- Ability to resolve routine coding edits and inquiries
- Familiarity with documentation needs and coding questions communication
