Job Summary

To support accurate coding of outpatient medical encounters, the full-time Certified Coder will analyze clinical and demographic information to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze medical records to assign diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient encounters
• Identify documentation gaps and initiate queries for clarification to ensure accurate coding
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards while managing assigned work queues

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CCA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-A, CIC, COC)
• Experience applying ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines
• Ability to resolve routine coding edits and inquiries
• Familiarity with documentation needs and coding questions communication
