Job Summary
To support accurate coding practices, the full-time remote Certified Coder will analyze clinical and demographic information to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and contributing to the overall performance of the health system.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze medical records to assign diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient encounters
- Identify documentation gaps and initiate queries for clarification to ensure accurate code assignment
- Maintain productivity and accuracy standards while managing assigned work queues and resolving routine coding edits
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification from AHIMA (CCA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CIC, COC)
- Experience applying ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding for low-complexity outpatient encounters
- Ability to review documentation and resolve routine coding issues effectively
- Familiarity with coding guidelines and payer rules for accurate and compliant code assignment
