Job Summary

To support advanced surgical coding practices, the full-time remote Professional Surgical Coder will apply specialty coding to complex surgical encounters, interpret operative reports, and ensure compliance with reimbursement standards.

Key responsibilities

• Codes complex specialty surgical encounters and interprets operative reports to assign accurate procedure codes
• Resolves escalated coding issues and collaborates with coding teams to ensure consistency in coding practices
• Applies advanced modifier logic and coding principles to optimize reimbursement and maintain regulatory compliance

Required qualifications

• 2 years of coding experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• AHIMA-RHIA, AHIMA-RHIT, AHIMA-CCS, AAPC-CPC, AAPC-CIC, or AAPC-COC certification
• Experience with advanced specialty coding for complex surgical encounters
• Ability to resolve complex coding scenarios with minimal guidance
