On-Call Scientific Outreach Specialist

Job Summary

To support the mission of connecting journalists with scientific expertise, the part-time On-Call Scientific Outreach Support Specialist will rapidly research, identify, vet, and recruit scientific experts for same-day interviews, working remotely for up to 17 hours per week, primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and vet scientific experts for referral to journalists based on their expertise and communication skills
• Recruit scientific experts to participate in interviews with same-day deadlines
• Contribute to the enhancement of SciLine's database of experts

Required qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in a scientific discipline
• Strong research skills and commitment to scientific rigor
• Ability to build relationships with scientists and research institutions
• Capability to quickly digest and assess scientific literature across various domains
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in scientific communication
