Job Summary
To support accurate cancer data reporting, the full-time Oncology Data Specialist-Certified will manage the abstraction of cancer cases into the registry database, ensure compliance with data standards, and perform case finding and follow-up duties in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily abstraction of cancer cases into the cancer registry database and maintain logs of all records
- Resolve EDITs prior to submission of cases to the State Central Registry and NCDB
- Ensure compliance with CoC and State Cancer Registry data standards while submitting cases as required
Required qualifications
- Oncology Data Specialist-Certified (ODS-C) is required
- A minimum of three years of oncology data abstracting experience, with recent abstraction within the past year
- Knowledge of ICD-O, AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, and cancer registry procedures
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with HIPAA and compliance standards affecting medical records
