Online Accounting Tutor

Job Summary

To support students in developing critical thinking skills, the remote Online Accounting Tutor will conduct sessions using the Socratic method while providing expertise in U.S. tax code and university-level accounting courses on a contract basis.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate online tutoring sessions using video, audio, and chatbox tools to enhance student learning
• Manage scheduling to accommodate student demand, particularly during peak academic semesters
• Foster student independence by guiding them through problem-solving processes and encouraging critical thinking

Required qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of U.S. tax code and university-level accounting, demonstrated through education or professional experience
• Access to a reliable computer, high-speed Internet, and a quiet environment for conducting tutorials
• Experience in teaching methodology or tutoring at the college level is highly preferred
• Availability to tutor a minimum of 2-5 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters
• Excellent academic performance in relevant subjects during undergraduate or graduate studies
