Online ASL and Humanities Tutor

Job Summary

To support students in their academic journey, the part-time Online ASL and Humanities Tutor will utilize the Socratic method to foster critical thinking skills during remote tutoring sessions across various subjects, including American Sign Language, writing, and math.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct online tutoring sessions using video, audio, and chatbox tools to engage students effectively
• Develop and implement personalized tutoring strategies to promote student independence and critical thinking
• Maintain availability for tutoring sessions primarily between Sunday and Thursday evenings, based on student demand

Required qualifications

• Advanced knowledge or expertise in American Sign Language, supported by relevant education or professional experience
• Access to reliable high-speed Internet and a quiet environment for conducting online tutorials
• Experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably at the college level, in subjects such as math or writing
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 2-5 tutoring hours per week during the fall and spring semesters
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with students
