Online Computer Science Tutor

Job Summary

Fostering student independence, the remote Online Computer Science Tutor will utilize the Socratic method to guide learners in developing critical thinking skills during online sessions, working on a contract basis with flexible hours based on availability and student demand.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct online tutoring sessions using video, audio, and chatbox tools to facilitate student engagement
• Assist students in understanding computer science concepts while promoting independent problem-solving skills
• Maintain availability for tutoring during peak hours, specifically Sunday through Thursday evenings

Required qualifications

• Advanced knowledge in computer science, supported by an undergraduate or graduate degree or relevant professional experience
• Access to reliable high-speed Internet and a quiet environment for conducting tutorials
• Ability to tutor a minimum of 2-5 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters
• Preferred background in teaching methodology or experience tutoring at the college level
• Excellent academic performance in relevant coursework
