Job Summary
To support a dynamic healthcare data team, the Ontology Data Specialist will work remotely on a 12-month contract, focusing on developing and maintaining formal knowledge representations that enhance healthcare administrative data systems and influence AI and analytics capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Design and update ontologies using RDF, OWL, and SKOS to represent healthcare administrative concepts
- Map internal data models to industry standards like FHIR, SNOMED, and ICD, and use SPARQL to query and validate knowledge graphs
- Collaborate with domain experts to formalize business knowledge into structured models and contribute to graph database architecture
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of experience in data or knowledge engineering, focusing on ontology or knowledge representation
- Practical experience with RDF, OWL, SKOS, and proficiency in SPARQL for data validation and manipulation
- Hands-on experience with ontology authoring tools and a solid understanding of ontology design patterns
- Familiarity with healthcare standards like FHIR, SNOMED, and ICD, and experience with graph databases such as Neo4j or TypeDB
- Knowledge of Python programming and understanding of AI frameworks supporting knowledge graphs
