Job Summary
To support Ophthalmology and Optometry clinicians, the full-time Remote Ophthalmology Coding Liaison will deliver proactive coding education, lead onboarding and compliance training, and provide individualized documentation feedback to ensure accurate coding practices and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver proactive coding education through newsletters, scorecards, and presentations covering various coding guidelines and payer requirements
- Lead onboarding and compliance training for employed Physicians/APPs, ensuring documentation accuracy from the start
- Serve as the primary contact for coding inquiries, coordinating with internal teams to resolve complex coding issues
Required qualifications
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Coding Specialist (CCS), Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P), or Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
- Completion of advanced training through a recognized or accredited program equivalent to post-secondary education
- Typically requires 4 years of experience in expert-level professional coding
- In-depth knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
