Ophthalmology Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare practice, the full-time Ophthalmology Medical Coder will provide coding and abstracting services for physician and facility medical records using ICD 10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review medical records to assign diagnostic and procedural codes accurately and ensure appropriate DRG assignment
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity while utilizing applications to enter coded charts in real-time
• Participate in team meetings, training, and coding education initiatives to stay updated on industry standards and guidelines

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Profee and Facility Ophthalmology coding
• Certification in CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA
• Proficiency in coding Clinic E&M and CPTs, along with knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPS coding principles
• Experience with Epic and 3M, 360 coding systems
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and reimbursement systems
