Ophthalmology Medical Director

Job Summary

To provide clinical oversight and strategic direction, the full-time Ophthalmology Medical Director will manage vision-related programs and services remotely, ensuring compliance with medical standards and regulations while engaging with clients and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide clinical oversight and direction for ophthalmology programs, ensuring adherence to evidence-based standards
• Perform utilization management reviews and adjudicate clinical appeals and denials, collaborating with operational teams
• Act as a client-facing clinical leader, participating in meetings and providing guidance to support client relationships and growth

Required qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with specialty training in Ophthalmology
• Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state
• Board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology
• Demonstrated experience with utilization management, medical necessity review, and appeals
• Strong executive-level communication skills for effective engagement with clients and senior leaders
