Optical Engineer

Job Summary

To ensure guaranteed performance and capacity for products, the full-time Optical Engineer III will monitor Optical Long Haul and Metro networks, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with various teams to restore service in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitor and troubleshoot Optical Long Haul and Metro networks, performing fault isolation as needed
• Coordinate with smart hands and optical equipment manufacturers to resolve issues and restore service
• Document operational processes and contribute to the creation of monitors, alerts, and metrics for continuous improvement

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (B.S/B.A) and 5 to 8 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with geometrical and physical optics, radiometry, and lens design
• Deep understanding of stray light analysis and non-sequential ray trace tools
• Knowledge of building and testing optical systems
• Ability to work cross-functionally with other optical and network operational support teams
