Optical Fiber Link Design Engineer

Job Summary

Supporting the Optical Distribution Network design and integration, the full-time Staff Optical Fiber Link Design Engineer will manage the design, development, integration, and validation of fiber networks and hardware for quantum systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support end-to-end system fiber link architecture connecting subsystems, PICs, and control systems
• Drive link component designs and collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical and electrical engineers
• Create detailed fiber designs for complex optical distribution networks, including routing and splice plans

Required qualifications

• M.S. or PhD in Physics, Optical or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of industry experience
• 5+ years of experience designing and testing fiber networks and optical systems
• Knowledge of fiber optics, including loss mechanisms and dispersion
• Experience with optical test equipment such as power meters and optical spectrum analyzers
• Proficiency in Python for software controls and developing test methods
