Opto-Mechanical Designer

Job Summary

Designing and modeling mechanical components for optical systems, the full-time Opto-Mechanical Designer will work remotely to develop innovative solutions for mounting and positioning optical elements while providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and model mechanical components to interface with optical elements such as lenses and mirrors
• Develop detailed drawings and fabrication instructions for optical and mechanical assemblies
• Conduct analysis and evaluations of design concepts to assess development and manufacturing risks

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent 7+ years of experience in opto-mechanical design
• Proficient in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks or NX
• Experience with all phases of opto-mechanical subsystems, including conceptual design and assembly integration
• Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations and support project reviews
• Prior experience with NASA or space flight hardware is preferred
