Orthopedic Medical Director

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Medical Director - Orthopedics.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support for Medical Affairs and make coverage determinations
• Advise team nurses on care appropriateness and ensure quality and cost-efficiency
• Collaborate with other departments to enhance performance and support case management

Required Qualifications

• Board certified MD or DO with a strong understanding of utilization and case management
• 3 years of experience in a managed care environment with medical necessity determinations
• 3+ years of clinical practice in various specialties, staying updated on medical services
• Current, unrestricted clinical license(s) and board certification in Orthopedic Surgery or General Surgery preferred
• Specialty training beyond first board certification is highly desirable
