Outpatient Audit Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Outpatient Complex Audit Specialist to facilitate audits of medical record documentation for outpatient encounters.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize documentation and coding expertise to conduct audits of outpatient medical records
• Abstract information from electronic health records to support the Documentation & Coding Provider Education Program
• Evaluate medical records in accordance with coding guidelines and regulations to assist in revenue cycle projects and performance metrics

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
• Minimum of two (2) years coding experience required; additional specialty coding certification or 5-7 years coding experience preferred
• Prior experience in a healthcare revenue cycle position required
• One to two (1-2) years of college or additional coursework in relevant fields preferred
• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and coding systems is essential
