Outpatient Auditor

Job Summary

As a fully remote opportunity for new graduates, the Outpatient Auditor will review outpatient medical records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, payer guidelines, and organizational policies while developing auditing and compliance skills.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough CPT/APC coding reviews to verify the accuracy of coding assignments and reimbursement
• Utilize coding guidelines and proprietary tools to identify overpayments and document audit results effectively
• Comply with all policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations, while meeting established productivity and quality goals

Required qualifications

• One or more of the following credentials: CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC
• Associate's degree or 1 year of relevant experience
• Knowledge of coding guidelines, including CPT and NCCI coding standards
• Experience with encoder tools such as 3M, Webstrat, or Optum Encoder
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
