Job Summary
Collaborating with healthcare providers, the full-time Outpatient CDI Specialist will review medical records to enhance documentation accuracy and completeness while ensuring compliance with coding and billing regulations in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities:
- Review outpatient encounters to assess documentation accuracy and identify opportunities for improvement
- Provide compliant documentation clarification and feedback to providers through approved communication channels
- Collaborate with coding, quality, compliance, and revenue cycle teams, tracking and reporting CDI interventions and outcomes
Required qualifications:
- An active coding credential such as RHIA, RHIT, CPC, COC, CCS-O, CCS, CDEO, CCDS, CDIP, or CCDS-O
- 3+ years of experience in outpatient coding, risk adjustment, and outpatient CDI
- Strong understanding of ICD-10 CM outpatient coding and risk adjustment models
- Experience with ambulatory EHR systems like Epic or Cerner
- CCDS, CDEI, or CDIP certification required
