Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely, the full-time Outpatient Coder will assign codes to medical diagnoses and procedures, ensuring accurate coding through the review of medical records and communication with healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews medical records to determine appropriate diagnostic and procedural code assignments
• Assigns charges for applicable clinics and departments as needed
• Communicates with department management regarding coding, compliance, and documentation issues

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Coding-related certification from AHIMA or AAPC, as determined at position level
• Additional credentials such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, or CPC-H within one year
