Job Summary
To support optimal reimbursement and quality reporting, the full-time Outpatient Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses from medical records while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10-CM codes for medical record accounts and abstract key data elements for billing and regulatory purposes
- Review clinical documentation for accuracy and communicate with providers to ensure correct coding of diagnoses and procedures
- Resolve claim edits related to outpatient encounters and assist with coding error resolutions as needed
Required qualifications:
- RHIT, RHIA, CEDC, COC, CPC, CCS-P, or CCS credentials
- Three or more years of coding experience
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems, as well as federal and state reimbursement regulations
- Experience working in a remote environment
- Ability to maintain a 95% quality accuracy rate and meet productivity standards
