Outpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare team, the full-time Outpatient Coding Specialist will assign diagnosis and procedure codes for various outpatient services remotely, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and achieving high accuracy standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD 10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS according to CMS requirements
• Maintain 95% accuracy on quality reviews and adhere to assigned productivity standards
• Verify and enter charges based on documentation while facilitating positive relationships with medical staff

Required qualifications:

• Associate degree in a health-related field preferred
• One year of outpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital preferred
• Certifications such as CCA, CPC, CCS, or RHIT preferred
• Familiarity with APCs, OPPS, and NCCI guidelines
• Knowledge of compliance regulations impacting the coding area
