Job Summary
Supporting the Outpatient Coding Managers in a full-time remote capacity, the Outpatient Coding Technician will manage DNFC reporting, ensure accurate coding of outpatient encounters, and assist in compiling productivity and quality data while collaborating with clinical and revenue cycle teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the daily DNFC report and communicate related financial data to Revenue Cycle leadership
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle and clinical areas to resolve coding-related issues and ensure documentation completeness
- Calculate and report coder productivity data to HIM coding leadership while performing straightforward coding tasks as directed
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least 6 months of experience in Health Information Management or a coding-related department
- Completed coding certification (CPC-A, CPC, RHIT, or CCA) may substitute for experience
- Generalized understanding of coding fundamentals such as CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and encoder coding software
