Job Summary
To support a growing practice, the part-time Outpatient Medical Coding Specialist will abstract clinical information, assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and ensure compliance with coding standards while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Abstracts relevant clinical information from health records and assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT codes accurately
- Meets or exceeds coding quality standards and adheres to coding compliance requirements
- Participates in team meetings and educational conferences to enhance coding skills and stay current with practices
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; completion of a formal coding program
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or other AHIMA or AAPC approved coding credential preferred
- Minimum of three years of coding work experience with knowledge of ICD and CPT coding systems
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Intermediate level computer skills and a sense of urgency towards work
