Part-Time Reporter

Job Summary

To support a growing network of local newsletters, the part-time temporary Reporter will write high-impact local news items, contribute to newsletters and social media, and collaborate with editors while working remotely across the U.S.

Key responsibilities

• Write concise local news pieces in Axios' Smart Brevity style, often with a daily turnaround
• Jump on timely stories, events, and trends while contributing to various platforms
• Collaborate with editors and fill longer coverage gaps as needed

Required qualifications

• Strong news judgment and experience with audience-focused writing
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt quickly to feedback
• Omnivorous curiosity and enthusiasm for diverse reporting topics
• Familiarity with Smart Brevity style or willingness to learn
• Experience working in a remote environment and strong communication skills
