Patent Attorney - Biotech

Job Summary

To support Amgen's mission in biotechnology, the full-time remote Senior Counsel - Biotech Patent Law will develop and execute a global intellectual property strategy, manage patent applications, and provide legal counsel on IP matters related to therapeutic products and candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a global intellectual property strategy for therapeutic products and candidates
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide while conducting prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses
• Provide legal advice on IP-related matters and assist in drafting and negotiating IP provisions in various transactional agreements

Required qualifications

• J.D. or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• Six years of experience in patent or intellectual property law within the biopharma or life sciences sector
• Experience in conducting IP due diligence for transactions, including licensing and research collaborations
• Advanced degree in molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, or a related field is preferred
