Job Summary
To support a growing boutique intellectual property law firm, the part-time contract IP Operations Consultant will stabilize and strengthen patent prosecution support operations, improve workflow controls, and coach support staff while working remotely for approximately 20-30 hours per week.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess and stabilize patent prosecution, docketing, intake, and legal support workflows
- Identify backlog, risk points, control gaps, and opportunities for process improvement
- Train, coach, and provide performance guidance to support staff
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in patent prosecution, IP operations, or related legal support
- Prior management or department-level ownership of an IP support or docketing function
- Strong knowledge of U.S. patent prosecution and USPTO docketing
- Experience with IP docketing systems such as AppColl, FoundationIP, or CPI
- Demonstrated ability to train staff and improve workflows and quality controls
