Job Summary
Providing essential support to the UNC Health Care System, the full-time Patient Access & Support Specialist will manage patient calls, schedule appointments, and coordinate communications between medical professionals while working primarily weekday evenings and weekends with rotating holidays.
Key responsibilities
- Front patient calls for nurse triage and identify conditions needing urgent intervention
- Register new patients and manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and confirmations
- Provide administrative support for the UNC Virtual Practice, ensuring timely patient care and exceptional experiences
Required qualifications
- High School degree or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred with one year of customer service experience
- Three years of customer service experience with an Associate's degree, or five years with a High School diploma, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and strong personal computer skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
- Knowledge of the UNC Health Care System and medical terminology will be gained during training
