Job Summary
Assisting with collections and account follow-up, the part-time Patient Account Consultant will manage billing allowance posting and ensure timely resolution of outstanding claims while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Follow up with payers to resolve outstanding claims through various communication methods
- Monitor billing accuracy and update patient and financial information as needed
- Analyze and address issues causing payment delays, initiating appeals when necessary
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2-3 years of experience in insurance collections and hospital/facility billing
- Basic knowledge of healthcare claims processing including ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPC codes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with workflow systems like STAR and EPIC
- Understanding of government, Medicare, and Medicaid claims
