Job Summary
To support patient financial services, the full-time Patient Account Specialist will work remotely to manage payment options, assist with insurance setup, and resolve patient account issues while ensuring timely follow-up on balances owed.
Key responsibilities
- Screen patients and process Financial Assistance Applications, verifying eligibility and making account adjustments as needed
- Communicate with patients via various channels to respond to inquiries and support the application process for financial assistance programs
- Work with responsible parties to resolve outstanding accounts, including setting up payment plans and securing payments through various means
Required qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in collections, customer service, billing, or a related medical field
- Preferred college coursework in Accounting, Business, Medical Technology, Communications, or Social Work
- Proficient in MS Office applications and skilled in alphanumeric data entry
- Familiarity with government, commercial, and third-party billing is preferred
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining strong customer service skills
