Patient Accounting Representative

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time temporary basis, the Patient Accounting Representative will manage hospital billing, payer communication, and resolve credits, overpayments, and refunds while ensuring compliance with regulations and maximizing reimbursements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely billing of insurance claims in accordance with policies and regulations
• Follow up on payments with insurance companies and resolve payer denials, including submission of appeals
• Document all actions into account notes and strive to achieve targeted benchmarks for account resolution

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred
• One year of collections or administrative experience, particularly in medical billing
• Experience with EPIC Resolute Billing and knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payer requirements
• Strong understanding of hospital commercial billing and payer communication
• Ability to analyze and take appropriate action steps according to MHS protocols
