Patient Accounts Specialist

Job Summary

To support the billing operations of a large health system, the full-time Patient Accounts Specialist will perform accounts receivable follow-up and collection procedures remotely, ensuring timely reimbursement from third-party carriers and managing a portfolio of accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform accounts receivable follow-up and collection activities for assigned divisions and third-party carriers
• Maintain communication with third-party carriers regarding billing and reimbursement changes
• Assist in evaluating accounts receivable and developing strategies to decrease outstanding balances

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of collection experience in medical billing operations
• Experience with automated billing systems, preferably GE IDX and ETM
• Knowledge of ICD9/10 and CPT4 coding related to third-party carrier reimbursement
• Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to collection activities
