Patient Refunds Specialist

Job Summary

Managing patient refund requests, the full-time Patient Refunds Specialist will review accounts for overpayments, reconcile balances, and issue refunds while ensuring compliance with company policies and healthcare regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the patient refund and credits workflows, including reviewing, approving, and processing refunds
• Serve as the subject matter expert for patient credit cases in SalesForce and resolve complex refund issues
• Communicate with patients regarding refunds, providing clear explanations and maintaining documentation for auditing purposes

Required qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent preferred
• 2+ years of experience in a medical billing office or equivalent claims experience
• 1 year of experience with athenaHealth and/or athena One
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
• Hands-on experience with patient billing and refunds
