Patient Safety Companion

Job Summary

To support patient safety in a healthcare setting, the as-needed Patient Safety Companion will monitor patients for safety risks, assist with routine activities, and ensure the implementation of safety protocols while working onsite in Peoria, Illinois.

Key responsibilities

• Directly observe identified patients at all times during assigned shifts to ensure their safety
• Assist patients with routine activities, meal selection, and communication while maintaining privacy and confidentiality
• Document the implementation of safety protocols and report observations about patient behavior to nursing staff in a timely manner

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire
• Experience in a patient care environment preferred
• Ability to work as needed, including weekends and holidays
