Payments Counsel Attorney

Job Summary

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the full-time remote Payments Counsel Attorney will provide expert legal guidance on fintech payments and consumer protection, ensuring compliance while shaping innovative product development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on fintech payments and consumer protection activities
• Collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and marketing teams to integrate legal considerations into the product lifecycle
• Draft and review legal documents related to payments services and data use while staying updated on relevant laws and regulations

Required qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with an active license to practice law
• 6-8+ years of legal experience in payments-focused fintech or similar organizations
• Strong familiarity with Nacha rules, BSA/AML regulations, Reg E, and consumer protection laws
• Understanding of data protection and privacy laws, including GLBA
• Experience negotiating and managing risks of complex commercial agreements with banks and payment service providers
