Payments Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Leading the payments engineering team, the full-time salaried Payments Engineering Manager will oversee the design, build, and operation of payment systems, ensuring delivery, quality, and production stability while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Payments Engineers, managing performance and talent reviews
• Own engineering delivery for payment platforms, ensuring quality and predictability of releases
• Drive compliance with PCI DSS and manage vendor relationships for payment-related services

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; MBA or Master's preferred
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 6 years in leadership roles
• Direct experience with production payment systems and modern backend stacks (Java, Python, etc.)
• Strong understanding of PCI DSS, tokenization, and secure key management
• Experience integrating with major payment gateways and managing on-call reliability metrics
