Job Summary
Detail-oriented and proactive, the remote Payroll and Benefits Specialist will manage day-to-day payroll execution, assist with benefits administration and compliance processes, and serve as a resource for employee inquiries while supporting a growing number of states.
Key responsibilities
- Process bi-monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance while serving as the primary contact for employee payroll inquiries
- Manage state registration and employment taxes, ensuring alignment with labor laws and supporting internal and external payroll audits
- Provide first-line support for employee benefits questions and assist with benefits enrollment and compliance activities
Required qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in an HR role within a startup or fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting payroll and state taxes, with preference for candidates familiar with Rippling
- Strong understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws, with experience in multi-state compliance
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize effectively in a complex environment
- Excellent organizational skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
