Job Summary

Providing strategic leadership and operational oversight, the full-time remote Associate Vice President, Payroll will set the vision for Payroll Services, ensuring compliance and efficiency in payroll operations for approximately 42,000 employees across The Ohio State University and Wexner Medical Center.

Key responsibilities
  • Set the strategic direction for Payroll Services, aligning with institutional priorities and ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Lead and develop a multi-functional Payroll organization, overseeing payroll operations, tax administration, and systems teams
  • Drive process and system optimization initiatives in partnership with IT, HR, and Finance to enhance efficiency and scalability
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and twelve or more years of experience in large, complex organizations
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, multi-layered teams and developing high-performing organizations
  • Deep expertise in payroll operations, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Proven ability to influence across functions in a complex, decentralized environment
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise payroll, HRIS, and workforce management systems
