Payroll Operations Manager

Job Summary

Detail-oriented and highly organized, the full-time remote Payroll Operations Manager will lead end-to-end payroll operations for clients, ensuring accurate and compliant processing while continuously improving systems and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Own full-cycle U.S. and international payroll processing across multiple clients, including compliance and tax filings
• Serve as the internal payroll subject matter expert, collaborating with HR and Accounting/Finance teams to enhance payroll operations
• Manage payroll platforms and ensure accurate processing of wages, bonuses, and deductions while maintaining internal controls and process improvements

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of U.S. payroll experience, including multi-state payroll
• Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage laws, and compliance requirements
• Experience with payroll systems such as Gusto, Justworks, or similar
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation workflows
• Proven experience with payroll reconciliations and audit support
