Job Summary
Leading the multi-state payroll and tax workstreams for a temporary, remote Payroll Tax Workday Implementation Manager position, the successful candidate will manage system configuration, oversee payroll tax compliance, and provide training to internal teams while ensuring a smooth transition from the legacy system.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Workday Payroll and Tax subject matter expert, leading design, configuration, and testing of payroll functions
- Manage the 2026 payroll year-end tax close and oversee Q1 2027 payroll tax balancing and reconciliations
- Provide hands-on training to internal payroll specialists and document new payroll policies and procedures
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5-7+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Experience implementing Workday across multiple states with over 1,200 employees
- Proficiency with payroll/HRIS systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, or Paycom
