Peer Counselor, Breastfeeding Support

Job Summary

Passionate about supporting families, the part-time PRN Peer Counselor, Breastfeeding Support will provide basic breastfeeding education and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers enrolled in the WIC program through phone calls, texting, and occasional clinic interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one basic breastfeeding education and support to WIC participants
• Counsel clients using phone, text messaging, and other approved communication methods
• Educate clients on breastfeeding benefits and infant feeding basics, while maintaining accurate client records

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must have breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of six months
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and texting platforms
