Job Summary
Working from home full-time, the Pennsylvania Licensed Medical Coder will review and analyze health records to accurately translate diagnoses and procedures into coded form for reimbursement claims.
Key responsibilities:
- Review medical records to identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures
- Utilize Encoder software to determine and sequence appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience required
- Relevant coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC required within 12 months of hire
- Knowledge of hospital and professional coding guidelines and regulations
- Experience with medical records management systems is preferred
