Job Summary
To support healthcare documentation accuracy, the full-time Pennsylvania Licensed Medical Coder will review and analyze medical records, assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes, and ensure compliance with coding regulations while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Review medical records to identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures for accurate coding
- Translate diagnostic and procedural phrases into coded form using Encoder software and assign appropriate DRGs
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and assist in training new coding staff on guidelines and software
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant coding experience required
- One relevant coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC required upon hire
- Experience with DRG coding and hospital coding guidelines
- Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record systems
