Job Summary
To support health information coding efforts, the full-time Pennsylvania Licensed Medical Coder will review and analyze medical records, assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Review medical records from various EHRs to identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures
- Assign codes according to hospital and professional coding guidelines, ensuring accurate documentation for reimbursement
- Provide educational materials to physicians to clarify documentation and enhance coding accuracy
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required; graduate from a specialty training program preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience required
- One relevant certification from AHIMA or AAPC required upon hire
- Computer literacy and critical thinking skills necessary
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and medical records
