Job Summary
Seeking a casual Pennsylvania Licensed Oncology Data Specialist, this remote position will perform abstracting functions for various UPMC facilities, ensuring compliance with registry policies and maintaining high data quality standards, while working approximately 8 hours per week.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain a follow-up success rate of at least 90% for cases abstracted within five years
- Ensure timely and complete abstracting in accordance with annual caseload standards
- Perform tasks to maintain a current and accurate database, complying with relevant health organizations' requirements
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma; Associate's or B.S. degree in Health Information Management preferred
- 1 year of oncology or abstracting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical coding systems
- Experience with hospital data systems and Microsoft Office products
- Oncology Data Specialist certification preferred; RHIA or RHIT preferred
