Job Summary

Working on an as-needed basis, the Per Diem Copy Editor will edit articles, captions, and newsletters across News, Features, and Sports desks, ensuring content meets quality standards while operating in a fast-paced environment with digital and print deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Edit articles and multimedia content for grammar, style, and legality while ensuring compliance with quality standards
• Write engaging headlines and captions optimized for search and social media performance
• Collaborate with various newsroom teams to expedite content movement between digital and print platforms

Required qualifications

• Minimum of one year of editing experience in a journalistic publication, preferably with copy desk experience
• Strong skills in line and copy editing, headline writing, and knowledge of legal considerations
• Proficiency in production systems and software tools for content editing and curation
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
• Versatility in adapting to various subject areas and production platforms
