Physical Safety Consultant

Job Summary

To provide critical physical safety expertise, the contracted Physical Safety Trainer will deliver risk assessment and mitigation planning, mentorship, and support to journalists and media organizations across Europe and Eurasia, all conducted remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct physical risk assessments and mitigation planning sessions tailored to the needs of at-risk individuals and organizations
• Coordinate with support service providers and program staff to ensure an integrated approach to safety
• Provide follow-up mentoring and support, along with reports and updates to program staff as required

Required qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in physical security and risk management support
• Expertise in developing scenario-based physical risk mitigation modules for high-risk environments
• Demonstrated experience in training and mentoring individuals or organizations on physical safety
• In-depth knowledge of the journalism sector and the safety needs of media practitioners
• Proficiency in regional languages such as Ukrainian, Georgian, or Russian is highly preferred
