Platform Engineer
Job Summary
To support the Compute Capacity team, the full-time remote Platform Engineer will manage the capacity plan, ensuring compute supply meets demand while building and maintaining automation for provisioning and metrics.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain the capacity plan for compute supply across regions and instance families
- Develop automation for reservation acquisition, fleet reconciliation, and drift detection
- Instrument capacity by creating metrics for saturation, reservation coverage, and provisioning latency
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, SRE, platform, or capacity engineering, preferably in a SaaS or cloud environment
- Production software engineering experience with ownership of a service, using modern languages such as TypeScript, Python, or Go
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Pulumi or Terraform
- Knowledge of AWS EC2, including instance families, capacity reservations, and quota mechanics
- Understanding of reservation economics and tradeoffs between coverage, utilization, and cost
