Pohnpeian Interpreter

Job Summary

Working remotely as an independent contractor, the part-time Pohnpeian Interpreter will handle on-demand calls, rendering the meaning of conversations between Pohnpeian and English speakers across various industries, including healthcare and government.

Key responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretations in a professional manner
• Render accurate concepts and meanings while adhering to established interpretation protocols
• Maintain professionalism and cultural sensitivity throughout all interpreting sessions

Required qualifications:

• Fluency in Pohnpeian and English, with an understanding of cultural dynamics
• Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching or interpretation preferred
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills for high accuracy during interpretation
• Ability to remain neutral and objective, especially during sensitive conversations
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
