PostgreSQL Core Engineer

Job Summary

Contributing to the PostgreSQL core engine and maintaining extensions, the full-time PostgreSQL Core Engineer will author and review patches, engage with the community, and root-cause issues while working remotely or from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Key responsibilities

• Author and review patches for the PostgreSQL core engine, focusing on performance, features, and bug fixes
• Maintain both open-source and proprietary Postgres extensions, including feature work and performance tuning
• Engage with the PostgreSQL community in design discussions and Commitfests, while improving documentation for PostgreSQL and extensions

Required qualifications

• Strong C programming skills in large, established codebases
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, including MVCC and query planner/executor
• Demonstrated open-source contributions to PostgreSQL or comparable database projects
• Fluency with Git and the PostgreSQL patch workflow
• Comfortable in Linux/BSD development environments for profiling and benchmarking
